Sponsored by the High Point Market Authority, the event will take place in advance of the Fall High Point Market.
This concert will honor the people who make Market possible, from craftspeople and factory workers behind the scenes to attendees who are arriving early for one-of-a-kind discoveries. The evening will culminate in a free concert with Grammy Award-winning DJ Kemit headlining, following DC-based duo April + VISTA.
“High Point Market is possible because of the people behind it,” says Tammy Covington, President and CEO of High Point Market Authority. “We are thrilled to be partnering on an event that celebrates the people who make it happen as a precursor to an exciting week in our city.” The concert is free to the industry and community but there is a suggested ticket price of $15 which will benefit the Barnabas Furniture Bank with 100% of those donations going to the tremendous work of Barnabas.
The concert is part of a larger, collaborative, multi-day celebration of African-inspired design, art and music, called Diaspora in Design. Founded by BODDO Studio, Tackassanu Senegal and Kardigan Home, Diaspora in Design continues Thursday through Saturday with programming beginning at 4 p.m., including basket-weaving demonstrations, explorations of African textiles, artist conversations and panel discussions examining the influence of the African diaspora on contemporary design.
Our gallery will be opening two new exhibits this same night – CS26 and Grey Area.
